My first question: On Pinterest: On everything I pin I have to describe it.What exactly am I suppose to write? As an example, I pinned a photo from someones board (lets say it is a picture of 2 monkeys playing) Do I say:” these guys are having fun” or ” this is a photo of 2 monkeys” or “the name of the photographer or place I found this”. I want to get working on my boards but need this clarified before I go too far.
Also, How do I deleted something I pinned by accident?
You can say whatever you want in the description! Up to you
To delete a pin, go to your homepage, and click on the board that the pin is on. Then hover over the pin and click on the ‘edit’ button. There is an option in there to delete it
oh thanks Jess! will need the time so great idea.
OKay I know this sounds stupid but I can’t figure out how to tweet my blog post. I know you said just copy the url and paste into twitter and post but it’s not working. Now I’m trying to copy the URL that’s at the top of my post when I’m in the admin and editing the post. Am I supposed to get the Url from the actual post on the blog itself? Is that what’s wrong?
Hi Janet
Hmm, when you visit your blog, and click on the blog post you want to tweet, the url should be up the top. Try using that one.
The one from inside your dashboard should work too – it sounds like your permalink, which is what you want to tweet out.
Jess I have several questions before I lose you (Is there another page for questions or am I the only one?)
I will number them for your convenience.
1.I am looking for interesting blogs, and when I find them, how do I know when a new one is written. Can they be sent to me automatically.? Same question for people reading mine. How does that work? Do you use DIG? If so, how does that work?
2.You mentioned Advertising, but didn’t really get into it. If I want to put out an ad for my blog or etsy shop, how do I go about it?
3.You said that you go to twitter and then Google reader first thing in the day. Is that where you find trendy subject matter? I am not familiar with google reader.
4. You said to use the permalink on Pinterest. I don’t think I have a choice other than ‘pin it’
5. Sometimes I get great photo’s in an email. When I try to pin it, a message comes up that says”We don’t see any image on this page.”
I thought you could pin anything that is on the web
6.I have been getting some emails from Etsy people and they talk about Treasuries and Circles. where can I go to learn more about this?
1. You can subscribe to them. Go sign up for Google Reader. Then, whenever you see an RSS icon (usually orange, looks like radio waves being sent out) you can click on that and subscribe.
2. Contact the blog you want to advertise on. Check to see if they have an advertising info page first.
3. Twitter to catch up on overnight, and google reader (as above) to check the blogs I subscribe to. Just to keep up – don’t do that every day, too busy!
4. Just make sure you’re on the actual individual blog post rather than your blog homepage when you pin it, and you’ll be okay (click on the title of the post to go to the individual page)
5. Hmm, not sure about that one. Try right-clicking and ‘open image in new tab’ and try to pin it then
6. Visit Etsy, they are both Etsy-specific things, and they have more info about them. Or, google it
I have started to post about gardening. I searched google reader and found some blogs on gardening. After I write the post how can I connect to these blogs?
On twitter I did a hashtag search for gardening and am ‘following’ several. I thought I would twitter something like this
#gardening I just posted a story about gardening on my blog http://artworksbydiane.blogspot.com
Is that how I am suppose to do it?
Diane – I’ll address the last point first – yep, that looks good! Though I would probably tweet a link directly to the gardening blog post, rather than your blog homepage.
A good way to connect to new blogs is to leave thoughtful comments on them. You could also email them and tell them how much you enjoy their blogs. But don’t email them saying ‘oh, I like your blog, please come read mine’ – just tell them what you enjoy about their blogs, and have your blog link in your signature/under your name – they’ll naturally have a peek
Thanks so much for all the info. Now I need to stop trying so hard and just naturally do a few things each day, and I bet a lot of this will finally settle in. I am glad you gave us that final piece to keep for review. Diane
